High-Himalayan rural municipality in northern Bajura, near the Tibetan border.

Agriculture

Himali reflects Bajura’s farming pattern: Subsistence mountain farming (maize, millet, barley, buckwheat) with low productivity; livestock is the main livelihood. The district faces seasonal food deficits.

Carbon & forestry context

Himali lies within Bajura’s forest landscape: High mountain forests, alpine meadows and Khaptad NP area provide substantial carbon storage and biodiversity. Community forestry is present but capacity-constrained.

Natural calamities on record
