Fast-growing municipality designated as the permanent capital of Sudurpashchim Province.

Agriculture

Godawari reflects Kailali’s farming pattern: The most productive agricultural district in the province: paddy, wheat, maize, sugarcane, lentils, oilseeds, vegetables; dairy and poultry. Irrigation from Karnali and Mohana rivers supports commercial farming.

Godawari lies within Kailali’s forest landscape: Terai and Chure/Siwalik forests, Ghodaghodi Lake wetland and community forests store significant carbon and support biodiversity (migratory birds, crocodiles). Floodplain forests face encroachment.

Natural calamities on record
